How do I host a Laravel app?

By default, no . You enable it via php.ini by setting opcache.enable=1 , opcache.jit_buffer_size , and opcache.jit for your workload. This is a deliberate choice : JIT speeds up CPU-intensive apps but can hurt typical web apps (Laravel, WordPress) with warm-up overhead and higher memory use. Rather than impose a default, we leave the decision to you — your app, your flags.

Do I need to configure Nginx or PHP-FPM?

No. By default we use PHP's built-in HTTP server — perfect for small and medium apps. For high-performance workloads, we also support Swoole : just configure START=php artisan octane:start --server=swoole --host=0.0.0.0 --port=$PORT (Laravel Octane) or run a Swoole runner directly. You get coroutine concurrency, persistent DB connections, and WebSockets without FPM overhead.
