How to pick, version, and configure your runtime on Square Cloud.
How many runtimes does Square Cloud support?
Currently 11 runtimes: Node.js, TypeScript, Python, Java, Rust, Ruby, PHP, Go, .NET, Elixir, and static sites. Each application runs in an isolated container.
How do I pick a runtime version?
Use the VERSION= field in squarecloud.app, with the latest (newest version) and recommended (production-stable) tracks. On Node.js and TypeScript they point to different versions; on the other versioned runtimes, to the same one.
Can I switch runtimes later?
Yes. Upload a new ZIP with the appropriate runtime and Square detects it automatically. We recommend planning your runtime before deploy to avoid rework.
What's the minimum memory to run an app?
256 MB for background apps (no subdomain) or 512 MB for apps with a *.squareweb.app subdomain. Maximum per app: 32 GB.
